Good afternoon, South OC! Hope everyone’s enjoying a break from the crazy rain last week and gearing up for the start of the holidays. We’ll be running in next week’s DP Turkey Trot - see you there?
This weeks lineup:
Two restaurants announce openings on Del Prado for Spring 2026.
The Wave Hotel is officially breaking ground, plus more top headlines around town this week.
Disco rodeo, speakeasy and a coffee & brunch pop-up are just a few of the events that caught our eye this week.
Home of the week: a charming Craftsman steps from SC beaches and Del Mar hits the market.
LET’S EAT

“The times they are a-changin’,” as Bob Dylan once said.
That couldn’t be more true in downtown Dana Point.
Late last week, San Diego-based Nectarine Grove announced that it has plans to open in Dana Point by Spring 2026.
They’ll open in place of Rip Curl, which has recently shut down, on the corner of Amber Lantern & PCH.
Nectarine Grove has a delicious looking menu with breakfast tacos, paleo pancakes, burgers, smoothies and matcha lattes (of course).
This comes on the heels of the Maison owners announcing its closing at the end of the year, along with Doheny Cafe.
Coastal cafe Bone Appétit has announced they’ll be opening in Maison’s former location, also in Spring 2026. Their menu could include dishes like baked brie, wedge salads, french dip and beef bourguignon.
We’ll keep you posted as we learn more about Nectarine Grove and Bon Appétit’s opening dates.
