Happy September! Whether you’re ready for it or not, fall is right around the corner. Lucky for us, we still have many more sunny, warm days to look forward to — in addition to smaller crowds compared to summertime here in South OC.

Welcome to “locals summer.”

This weeks lineup:

  • From Thai to tacos to a Seattle-based pizzeria, see which restaurants will be in the new food hall opening in San Clemente this fall.

  • A new vintage shop opens in SJC, live music and paint & sip - check out this week’s lineup.

  • Love wine? We’ve got the scoop on a new spot opening in Dana Point this week.

FOODIES REJOICE

What was once a historic theater and bowling alley dating back to 1938 will soon become a 17-stall food hall packed with restaurants of all kinds in the heart of San Clemente.

The Miramar Theater was purchased in 2020 by developers Tiger Hospitality, the team behind the Windmill Food Hall in San Diego. Coming this fall to San Clemente, the historic building, located at Boca de la Playa and El Camino, will be transformed into a foodie haven with a range of eateries, many with locations around San Diego. In addition to food vendors, the Miramar Food Hall will feature two bars.

Here are just a few of the new spots that caught our eye. For the full list, check out this article from the OC Register.

  • Cosmos Burger: San Diego-based burger spot known for its Spicy Jam Burger and Monkey Fries.

  • El Puerto Street Tacos: Mexican street tacos, burritos and quesadillas, with two locations in Carlsbad.

  • Graciously Thai: Described as a home-style Thai food eatery, with a location in Temecula.

  • Immersion Coffee Co.: A coffee shop with locations in San Diego’s Little Italy and La Jolla neighborhoods.

  • Lobster Lab: Carlsbad lobster roll spot that includes a lobster grilled cheese and lobster bisque.

  • Moto Pizza: A Seattle-based pizza chain known for its unique pizza that reportedly combines Detroit, New York and Roman pie styles with Filipino influences.

We’ll keep you updated as we learn more. Stay tuned!

Vino lovers, get ready.

On Friday September 5th, Wine Experience Dana Point will be officially open to the public.

Located on Golden Lantern between PCH & Del Prado, this new hybrid retail shop, tasting room and restaurant looks like any wine lovers dream. It carries well-known and rare varietals for everyone, from the casual wine drinker to connoisseur.

Wine Experience Dana Point is a hybrid retail shop, tasting room and restaurant.

There are also are several wine stations set up along one wall. There are wine-by-the-glass dispensers that preserve the wine, even after the bottle is uncorked.

Customers can select wine using a card that can be loaded with any dollar amount. The card is activated when it’s placed in front of the machine, allowing guests to select their wine (28 to choose from) and pour size (1, 3 or 5 ounce).

Adding to the experience is a menu of cheese boards and charcuterie to pair with wine as well as more substantial plates with recommended wine pairings listed on the menu.

We’ll cheers to that!
