Happy Wednesday, everyone. If you missed the super moon (or apparently “Beaver Moon”) last night; be sure to look for it again tonight. Send us a pic if you get a good one: @ [email protected] and we’ll feature it in next week’s newsletter.

CLOSING TIME

It’s with sadness that we share that Maison and Doheny Cafe will be closing their doors on December 24, 2025.

The announcement came from post earlier this week by owner and chef Danielle, sharing the costs of owning and operating three restaurants (Maison, Doheny Cafe and Giana) was becoming too challenging.

In her note, Chef Danielle alludes to Maison coming back at some point, and some favorite dishes being carried over to Giana.

We’re so grateful to have enjoyed many meals at Maison & Doheny Cafe. If you have the chance, be sure to stop by before they close their doors at the end of this year.

HOTEL PLANS

Plans for “The Lodge,” a four-story hotel with a rooftop in San Clemente’s Marblehead area, is moving ahead.

In September, the council approved changing the hotel’s site plans to increase the building height from 45 feet to 62 feet to accommodate the rooftop deck.

Residents unhappy with the taller building lobbied the council to reconsider. But in an October meeting, the council voted to allow the project to push ahead without the city’s Design Review Commission.

Get the full scoop in the OC Register’s article covering the news here.

The hope is that the hotel will be ready for the 2028 LA Olympics, with the surfing competition being held at Trestles.

We’ll keep you posted on this development as we learn more.
