Surf's up at Trestles for WSL Championship

Plus new Hobie location, World Ocean Day, Motel Minimarket, and more

Summer is getting underway, and we’re ready for it.

Seasonal fresh produce at the farmers markets, local music festivals, and longer beach days spent by the bonfire.

Yes, yes, and yes!

This weeks lineup:

  • WSL is back at Lower Trestles for the 8th stop on the Championship Tour

  • Hobie throwing a party for their brand new location at River Street Marketplace

  • Show gratitude for our ocean with a local beach clean up and yoga session this weekend

  • New menu items at a few local spots (Banh Mi pizza anyone?)

Let’s go!

WSL @ LOWER TRESTLES

Starting Monday June 9th through June 17th, the World Surfing League is back in San Clemente at local surfing hotspot Lower Trestles for the 2025 Championship Tour.

Lower Trestles is stop 8 of 12 events on the global tour this year, which includes legendary surf destinations around the world such as La Libertad, El Salvador, Gold Coast, Australia, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Jeffreys Bay, South Africa. The tour ends in Cloudbreak, Fiji for the finals.

After the mid-season cut line, there are now 22 men and 10 women left to compete for the title of 2025 WSL Champion, currently held by John John Florence and Caitlin Simmers.

Trestles at San Onofre State Beach in San Clemente, California

While we’re always rooting for the very best surfers to win, we’re particularly excited for San Clemente native Griffin Colapinto, who’s currently ranked 11th in the world.

There are so many amazing waves up and down the California, but Trestles is known to have some of the smoothest, most consistently long waves in California, making the waves, especially Lowers, any surfer’s paradise.

You can find all of the deets for watching the event live here (if you’re using Chrome and having trouble accessing the PDF, try Safari).

Get stoked, and go Griffin!

NEW MENU ITEMS

We’re suckers for new and interesting dishes whenever we see them, so we saved a few of these we saw for you all to checkout - hopefully soon!

Now we can’t say we’ve ever had a Bahn Mi-inspired pizza before, but now that you mention it.. that actually sounds pretty good.

The Banh Mi inspired “Banh Di” Detroit-style pizza from Gibroni’s is loaded with pork, hoisin sauce, cucumber, carrot, red onion, jalapeño, mint, and cilantro. Pair it with their Beer of the Month: Los Gibrinos, a strong pale ale by Los Molinos. Plus for every Bahn Di pizza and Los Gibrinos beer sold in June, $1 goes to their Charity of the Month, the Boys & Girls Club.

Banh Di pizza of the month from Gibroni’s.

We’re always on the lookout for the absolutely delicious and unique seasonal drinks that High Tide Coffee in San Clemente crafts for us. And the summer menu they just announced is just that.
