Good afternoon, South OC. Hope everyone’s been enjoying this unreal December weather here in SoCal.

This weeks lineup:

  • Plans are being reviewed for a new 70-room hotel to at a historic site in SJC

  • A new Mediterranean restaurant in San Clemente is all the buzz; plus more headlines from the past week

  • Gourmet donuts pop-up, boat parade, surfing Santa competition and holiday market in SC are just a few events that’ll keep you busy this weekend.

  • Home of the week: a modern, spacious beach house minutes from Del Prado & Doheny comes on the market.

HISTORIC HOSPITALITY

If plans go through, another hotel project could soon be in the works in South OC.

A proposal for a 70-room boutique hotel is currently being reviewed by the city, according to What Now: Orange County.

The French Hotel would be on the site of two historic adobes in SJC; the Domingo Yorba Adobe (c. 1830) and Casa Manuel Garcia (c. 1840), both listed on the National Register of Historic Places, according to the National Park Service. Almquist, the team behind the hotel, has said they are “intent on preserving and rehabbing the property,” according to their site.

The hotel would span six buildings, including a restaurant, event spaces, fitness and pool areas and valet parking.

We’ll keep you posted as we learn more about The French Hotel project.
