ALOHA VIBES

It’s hard to replicate the Hawaiian experience. From the outstanding natural beauty, “Aloha” friendliness and tropical flavors, Hawaii is truly unique.
Which is why we were ecstatic to come across a little hole in the wall spot right here in Capo Beach that feels every bit authentic Hawaiian.

Kawamata Seafood in Capistrano Beach, CA is a staple for authentic poke bowls.
Kawamata Seafood is easy to miss. It’s a small spot on the corner of Camino de Estrella and Calle Verano in Capo Beach. But don’t let it’s unassuming appearance fool you. Anytime you go, you can almost certainly expect a long line out front.
They’ve got a simple, no-frills menu with some of the best seafood we’ve had in South OC. You can create your own bowl with rice or cabbage, add flavors like Shoyu and Spicy Mayo, and choose from a selection of raw fish, including any combination of Ahi, Salmon and Octopus. Plus add any extra toppings, like daikon radish or imitation crab. Top it off with a side of Spam musubi and coconut water. Chef’s kiss.

Take your Kawamata bowl to a local park or beach, such as nearby Pines Park in Capo Beach.
It’s casual, fresh and authentic, and that’s why we love it. Best enjoyed at nearby Pines Park or your favorite local beach.
We recommend getting there right before opening to beat the crowds.
So the next time you’re craving a little Hawaii, give Kawamata a try. 🤙

MATCHA MADNESS

Matcha has sort of taken over, hasn’t it?
The latest trend seems to be iced strawberry matcha, which looks quite delicious. But an even more unique take on matcha just caught our eye at a local SJC cafe.

The Iced Banana Cold Foam Matcha from Ellie’s Table is the newest addition to the matcha craze.
Ellie’s Table at the Egan House in San Juan Capistrano just announced their newest breakfast drink: Iced Banana Cold Foam Matcha. The creaminess of cold foam and natural sweetness of banana sounds like a perfect pairing to the earthy flavors of matcha tea.
Something tells us it’s absolutely divine.
Thanks for reading & catch ya out there
